cooling fan thermostat
hi there folks,
i know many of you have changed the thermostat thing on your cars that tells the fan to come on at a certain temperature. i know many of you have fitted diesel ones so your fan comes on at a lower temp and its a mod i want to do aswell. now i was at scrappers yesterday and grabbed what i think is the right thing from a xantia diesel or may have been a td. is it the greish coloured cylindrical thing that sits pretty close to the fan/s themselves? if so cool!
cheers rossco

cheers tim,
that sounds like what i picked up at the scrappers it has 3 pin brown connector 3 wires and is a cylinder about 2.5 inches in length. but can anyone slap up a pic so i can be sure that im not just changing the wrong part or does it just sound right..
cheers rossco

Rossco,
Is the one you've got Silver, just under an inch wide & 2 inces long (ooer... ) & usually located right near the fan at the front? If so, it's not the switch but i think it's the relay that operates fan speed (stages 1 & 2).
The temp switch is located where already mentioned.
Jay.

hi tim,
i suspect these switches will be the same whether air-con or not as i think but could be wrong in thinking the rads would still be the same aircon or not but im sure someone can confirm this. also does anyone know if xantia or maybe zx switches are the same. i think they will be as they are from a similar age.???
cheers rossco
