why has bx16v got no low down torque??

Interesting graphs - you can clearly see the extra breathing ability the extra 8 valves give to the engine! And to me it looks like the 16v is a pretty well designed engine. The 8v is a good engine IMHO and the 16v manages to more or less match it to 4.5krpm and then takes off.

Whats the difference between the XU9J2 and the XU9JA?

This has been discussed many times and the true answer is always the same -
The 16v out performs the 8v in just about every way, if you drive your car like a diesel then yes the 8v is better but for anyone after somn epower the 16v is still a superb piece of kit.

Nothing wrong with the 8v though but it is just not an mi :D
