Oil press gauges

Post by Mark Hughes »

Hi,

Does anyone here know exactly what is the cause of the common non or semi-working 16V oil pressure gauge. Seems only a few cars not affected by it. Is it the sender unit (no longer available I'm told)? Or is it something fixable.

I'm under the impression it's mostly through poor connection with the wiring or water ingress to the sensor gubbins through the top.
Now listen here you mullet...

on mine, it was caused by a dodgy sender unit.

but others have said it's been due to the wiring and/or gauge itself...

i think the moral is 'could be anything'!

i presume the same gauges were fitted to all BX Gtis, as well as the sportier pug 405s and 309s, so if they really are no longer available new, there should be plenty in scrapyards (if you can get access under the manifold...)
