Looks like a good job, but! He said he used 4x4 shell and put 16V engine in, well lets consider some facts here;

Normal 4x4 system and Mi16 (T16) system differ a lot as not only Mi16 (and especially T16) is way stronger but the main difference is that normal 4x4 has manual diff lock, where Mi16 and T16 have "automatic"

He would have made a job much better if he used 4x4 shell, found Mi16x4, and used transferbox and all the bits and bolt them to a BX.
the biggest problem of this "transformation" I find in torgue, because 1.9 4x4 was more powerfull in lower revs, 16v is powerfull in higher revs. But it's interesting work :-)
This simply is not true!

Cheers

what a hero!

So in less than a week i've found someone who's put a 16v into a 4x4 and it turns out Allards have turbo'd a 1.5 TUD in a pug 106, so thats two 'need to build a new toy' ideas gone (was gonna turbo my mums AX 1.5d).

What to do now then?

Has anybody put a 2.0CT Xantia engine into a BX yet?

Whats this about an 8v having more torque lol? They have the same amount, its just easier to reach.

Good project though, but he's ruined the body. That thing looks cack!

iirc the 8v has less torque than the 16v! if it had the same then it would have more torque than the bhp output! i was pretty sure that the 8v had 118lbft (pug 8v gti with 130bhp!)

8v hass less torque through entire rev range comparing 16V. It just seems "dead" low down as when it comes on cam the rise in TQ is so big.

On paper I guess so. But I'd be hard pushed to tell the difference in either, until the valver came on cam! :lol:

How about a 16v motor into a 2cv?
TWO 16v motors, for proper 4x4 action.

Yeah though the 8 valve 1.9i engine in the BX and 405 Sri has something like 127lbs of torque. Over on the 205 forum we've discussed all this at length and even compared graphs for both these engines from the 405 brochure.
