hey folks,
well finally got the ph1 out fot its first REAL RUN! 8) and oh yeah im impressed! i went the edinburgh - loch lomond run 1 hour each way :D 8) and it gets better, i was really surprised how much that motor picks up and runs, especially as i have the k+N on board with the full scorpion and the chip in. real rapid all the way up to 120mph i was well surprised to see it at 130mph and at only around 6500rpm????!!!! with 1250rpm to go! how far will it go?, i will be waiting a new belt before i find out  i reakon it will go over 140 what do you guys think? well my car held up perfectly for the journey except when breaking hard once the abs light came on but a quick pit stop and re-start put it back off! 8) apart from that the only other problem was the front number plat flew off somewhere  by the way i have part of the run video'd on my mobile which i will try to get up, think its of the 130mph part :D

Seriously and no offence meant at all but I think you could end up with a pile of bits before long. We know how fast the engines are but trying to get that bit more out of them often results in failure. We see it enough on various forums including this one. Take it easy.

not bad going rossco, but be a little weary! top speed is nigh on useless aroudn this country unless you happen to havea nice big airfeild to play with! and its a definate licenece looser too!
ive had mine at 140 ont he clock and 134 true on private land but have to say, tbh it means nothing!

hey well. yes there is plenty spaces around here for that, including kirknewton airfield, and hey why be a fan of something and be in a club if you cant share it and enjoy it! :D its not manditory for everyone to sit hard up against the wheel and drive at 27mph to tesco, we all enjoy something in common in different ways, and many of us enjoy caning it

Miles had an indicated 150mph out of my 405, which I suppose in reality would be about 140 on GPS.

Your ECU is chipped??

Standard limiter is 7200rpm.

You obviousley achieved these speeds on private tracks, not the public highway, so thats fine, enjoy.
But get the belt changed!

The speedos are quite far out in some cars. I once hit the limiter in 5th gear several years ago, which I'm told can only be 143mph (with std box, limiter and wheels etc) but the speedo had gone past the "H"

Mines now chipped among other things, yet ironically I definately wouldn't put the engine through it again. I know my rev counter isn't accurate, but it won't pull cleanly to it's new limiter (7800rpm) so I'd be putting it through alot of needless pain. I think it dies off at about 7500rpm or there abouts, hard to tell really.....the rev counters like the oil pressure gauge. Its there for amusement.

hey man,
yeah? mines pulls like a concord from 4.5k with points from there to the limit where it feels like its boosting a certain points. from 5.5k up to the limit mine runs like a cheetah on spee*! :D 8)  which im glad and well proud of! only flat point is from 3.3k rpm to 4k it just goes eh what? driving? go faster? eh? then it hits 4k and goes ppppprrrrrrrrnnnnneeeeeeeeeeeoooooowwwwwww  aaarrrggghhh i love it sooooo much

Welcome to the budget supercar arena, Top Gear should have a spot each week on this type of vehicle.

The BX16V would not give a very impressive time figure on the Top Gear circuit, as the handling is not really suitable.

The Bx handles well, but modern cars can handle extremely well.
and so they should, 25 or so years later.

I am with Kitch - it is doubtfull you will be making decent power over 7500 and std components such as rod bolts and tappets start to get into a grey area as far as reliability is concerned at around 7700/7800.
My shift point is set at 7500 and limiter at 8k but it pays to use the shift point as the limiter the hard cut is 8k - car ha sbeen there once but that was an error on a RR day but it did make power all the way

Cheers
