Xantia brakes
Xantia brakes
Activa calipers (full front and rear set) OR would consider a set off a 16v/2.1td estate. I need new discs and pads for my bx and i have wanted to upgrade to xantia brakes for a while now so thought now is the time.
Something to bear in mind: Bx 16v wheels don't fit over the brakes on a VSX Xantia. The 14" wheels are too small, you need the 15" Xantia wheels to enable clearance over the calipers.

I think to get better bite just get a pair of xantia calipers,
they have bigger surface area and bite just a bit better
since 16V already using xantia ph1 disc 266mm xantia2
I think is 288mm which won't fit with 14in wheels.
You can fit the estate xantia bigger brakes to the rear of the BX
but you have to plonk in the whole arm ,exactly the same.

Mine has green ones on atm, theyre brilliant. Its not the stopping power im so bothered about as the standard setup is fine, its the dissipation of heat that i dont think is good enough as EVERY bx ive had, vented or not, ive warped the discs on and ive tried all different combinations. I had a set of brembo vented and grooved discs on my 1.6 and that had no abs so it could generate massive stopping power provided the ground was dry and you had grip but they didnt seem to last that long. OEM materials seem to be the best to go for, when i eventually find some xantia calipers i'll be getting standard standard discs and pads to match. The suspension setup on mine makes the car alot more stable around corners allowing you to carry speed so inevitably the brakes get extra abuse.
I have 15"s so fitting the larger calipers under shouldnt be a problem, i have my dads xantia to test my wheels up against too to make sure. I managed to get hold of a useful table from work with the disc sizes and pad shapes for every xantia, the activa, V6 and 110bhp HDi are the ones with the largest 288mm discs and the biggest piston sizes, theres a million other combinations for all the other slower models, quite confusing. I'll post the table up when i get the chance if anyone is interested (all part no's are black diamond, but it helps match models together to spot which ones share the same parts)

Green on the whole. Tried the red, ok when hot, but shocking when cold, had a few "hairy" moments...Vanny wrote:what colour? red, green, blue?docchevron1472 wrote:I just use EBC pads, never had a problem.....
Green seem fine to me.
They dont knacker the discs (I've never warped a set yet with EBC) and last well given the abuse they get.

djoptix, I use xantia disc on my BX19GTi from the 8V 2.0 and they work
fine ,it's a direct fit just use the disc and calipers ,thats all.
In fact they 'over-brake' it's too powerful can practically
stop on a dime.
Plus can still use 14in rims ,they barely clear the caliper by 2-3mm.
So fitting the bigger brakes from XanS2 is not necessary.
If braking too powerful ,worry is that the lower balljoints
and lower arm bushes are not going to last (the balljoints are
smaller than Xan and XM which use the same).
