suspension problems in cold days

Post by soupapes »

Every year in the cold days of the winter my 16v suspension works bad.

The Suspension Stop light it lights me several times when the car is moving, and sometimes when i put the engine working the car doesnt rise up, so i need to stop the engine and fire it up again so that way it will rise.

The wheel is also a little bit heavy and is tendency to block while the car is moving.

Anyone had simillar problems?

I'd be inclined to drain the LHM, clean the filters, run hydraflush in the system and replace the hose clips at the LHM tank and pump intake and see how much difference that makes.
It could be something serious, but my thoughts are that it could also be a combination of dirty filters and air contamination, so take out the cheap options before you go looking for the expensive ones.

I had intermittant assistance on the power steering, but it was OK after the car had warmed up.

It was the hydraulic pump. A new one cured the problem instantly.

I am really suspecting that the problem is with HP Pump. The problem is to find a good to feet in my car.

I have already cleaned the LHM filters, hydraflush the circuit and replaced the LHM for new one.

On this one I suggest you simply buy a new pump.
It is not worth the hassle messing with unknown pumps.

As the pump is the heart of the hydraulics system, just pay the money and you get a decent car.

I did , and it was worth it.

Buy a new pump where? I've looked on the citroen service page (http://service.citroen.com/) and a new one costs more than 3000€!

I did know a website of a uk company that sold refurbished hp's IIRC, but i don't remember the url. It was something like citroen hydraulics.

PS: Found it http://www.citroen-hydraulics.com/

I tryed to go into online shopping but it seams that the link is wrong. But i've been looking there before and i think a "new" pump there costs about 300€. Not cheap but certainly better (more "safe") than a used one.

A few months ago i went to see the price of the 2 pumps for the BX16V here in Portugal and the prices they give me where around 400€ and 600€.

Its alot for my student budget but in a few years i hope to buy a new one for my car. Right now a need a cheap and good one for the next times.
