Is that not an illegal type face? I thought they had to be flat and match a very specific font now?

as far as i know uk 3d text is still legal. Not sure about the euro tag though but being a french car i thought i might as well. What i meant by displaying it illegaly was putting the V next to the 16 and spacing BX like this... C 16V BX as far as i know its a grand fine for misrepresenting your numberplate.

That font is legal, flat, carbon effect, 3d and lined are all legal. We do them all at work and we're only allowed to make legal plates.

I havent heard from rene for a long time. I wonder if he will ever get another 16v? I tried to get that plate off him ages ago but give up. Would be nice to see it back on a 16v again.

The coppers round here pull you just for having a BX.
I kid you not.
The latest plan to pi$$ me off is saying I have no insurance, so I now carry the document in the car.

I rather like your plates, I still want CBX 16V...

There's no minimum plate size, but there is a dictated letter size and spacing.

We've moved the plate I bought for Jane from our Xsara VTS, onto the Leon Cupra R we bought new, and now it's on our Audi A6 Avant Quattro Sport. On both the Xsara and the Leon we had the correct size and font letters, but the group spacing was altered so the first half of the plate was further away from the 2nd group (100mm IIRC) complete with a legal GB emblem

Never had an issue with the Xsara, either with the police or MOT. The Leon was sold before it needed an MOT, but again never raised any interest from police at all. The front plate was MUCH smaller than a full size one as with only 5 characters plus the GB emblem I could legally make it that way. I was fully expecting to have my collar felt by someone who didn't know the law inside out, but it never happened!

I think so long as the plate is legal font and an ANPR camera won't struggle to read it then you wouldn't have an issue moving the groups about if you wanted to. A non-legal emblem on the left of the plate should however fail an MOT, as my neighbour found out when he took his 406 Coupe in with Union Flag stickers on both sides of each plate - they made him take them off! They looked nasty, so I think they did him a favour
