Luke - I've been thinking about that one. Off to talk to a friend tonight about possibilities of collection and storage. I'll bet a pound to a penny that it needs work but could be a good winter project. Keep you posted.

Robin - You never know, another Triton P2 could tempt me.

Regards,

Mike P.

Well,I got my octopus pipes done, front to rear pipes too.
Also replaced two rear pipes.
Told me and quoted for rear discs and pads £160 !!!!!!!!! told them I can do that thanks. Not long done Iains for £7 a disc and pads around £9
Advised me that as the rear underside is in very good condition,it would be a good idea to waxoil there quoted £100,I can do that ta.
Other than that they said my 16v is in very good nick and has been looked after very well over the years.
So if the weather holds I might get it done this year if not next springtime.

Fired the Ol' Girl up today for the first time since 1st August! has sat witht he battery disco'd since then (always leave it off with solar charger on the battery!) and fired up straight away! very smokey though lol! suspension was a little lathargic but considering how long since it had been started last not bad at all!

did forget that i had my Winter boots on though (wasnt overly warm down here at 9 when we left home for fathers! ) so inadvertantly reved the t#ts of it when it fired up! lol! was meant to be a 2k blip but ended up closer to 5k haha! sounded good though! 8) :P

Well mine's back, the head has been repaired, and all put together.

Photo of the head after the repair.

But now the car gets too hot. I've been checking and all temp sensors are ok, the problem is that the temperature before the radiator is about 95º (if left running alone, checked with a laser thermometer), and after the radiator is only 85º +/-, so the fans only start to work at almost 100º in the engine but the temperature in the radiator valve is 85º.

So I think that maybe the thermostat isn't working 100%, or the radiator is clogged or anywere else in the water circuit.

Is it normal that I can open the water filler cap with the engine in 90º+ and only hear a "pff" and no water comes out?

When the thermostat opens (at about 90º) the temperature only drops about 5º, when usualy drops 10º or 15º.

I'm going to the mechanic tomorrow to see if the thermostat is ok, or the radiator is clogged.

PS: got to create a topic on the members area.

Definately on the road now! got two of them MOt'd! Jons and mine, ones going out on long term loan tomorrow and I'm not sure which!! Jons is tidier in general and the gearbox is better but I prefer the darker grey of mine and the hydraulics "feel" better, It just feels like Home somehow!!

Just fixed an M3 for a lad down the road and took it for a spin - disapointed isn't the word!! - its done half the miles of my shed yet it rattles more, the suspensions knackered, lots of electrics don't work - at all.... and to cap it all the box is notchy and its actually no worthwhile amount faster around locally  That makes me feel good, mine cost £350 6 years ago, his cost £2000 2 weeks ago and has allrady cost him over a grand  :D

So much for Germanic build quality, Ps I just took a dead Audi in for a new Auto box, which will cost over a grand as well, I can forgive that one though as its on 245K give it another 3 months and it'll beat the old red sheds quarter mill

I've changed by a "colder" valve, it starts at 88º I think.

Well tomorrow I'll take the radiator to clean up. The thermostat was ok.
