Hi!

I have a problem with the side interior lights.

They stop work when i open the doors. They only light on when i push their button manually.

What can it be the problem?

Well with my very limited language skills I think Rossco said "sounds like an earthing problem"
Which would be my first check - most likely the pin switch in the door has corroded but do the lights fail to work when either of the front doors is opened ?

Cheers

Aha well if it is both pin switches playing up at once I would be suprised if it is just a bad earth on them, seems odd they should both pack up at the same time.
Easiest route would be to pop off the light covers and stick a multimeter in there to find out what is present and what isn't.

Cheers

yeah agreed! 8) i think maybe the circuit has somehow been reversed as the lights go off when doors are opened. maybe an earth fault could still cause it? im not sure but yeah checking voltage etc in the light would clarify what voltage is there and which way its goin.

Olá thanuttiscotsman! Sabes falar português ou estás a usar o tradutor?
:)

Thanks to all for the reply's.

Both doors dont light on. So i suspect it could be a problem with the delay timer relay, but i dont know where can i find it. Do you know?

your car is left hand drive so i cant be certain.

On a UK car, remove the glove box, reach into the top right hand corner of the hole and the relay is screwed into the back of the dash.

I would assume the relay will stay physically in the same place on a LHD car, so remove the panel that covers sterring column and look to the right.

Is it a square blue relay, or is it the black rectangular one?

interior lights dont work

Mine don't work on the driver's door switch but do work on the other door switches. Which means that the 'lights on' buzzer doesn't work if you're driving the car alone.I know it's not the door switch because I've earthed the brown wire to the door switch and still no luck. The brown wire disappears into a loom and then goes to God knows where. Any suggestions gratefully received.
