Very sad news indeed, as I've already mentioned on various other sites, condolences to his family, and more, the greater Citroën community, Alan helped and touched many people over the years, and the Citroën community is a poorer place without him.

Oddly it's not his advice I remember the most, but more his sense of humour and stories.

A very very sad loss indeed, i know i wouldn't have even the slightest clue about BX's if it wasn't for the reassurance by AlanS that practically every job on a BX could be tackled.

The first piece of car related advice i ever got from the internet was from AlanS and is the only reason that the BX (in my fathers posession) stayed on the road, and i subsequently learned to drive and mechanic in.

His is a presence that will be missed.

That is a great shame - I knew Alan hadn't been well for some time and that his posting was very much less frequent than of old.

Having lost a relative to cancer fairly recently I know what a strain it can be and wish all Alan's family best wishes for the future.

Alan was always a great sport and willing to photograph any job where a record would be useful for anyone less experienced to learn from and had a great way of explaining jobs for newbies.

I remember shipping some bits to Alan that he couldn't get down in Aus and getting a nice letter of thanks back with some Aussie $ to cover the cost.

Will miss you Alan

Best wishes

Adrian

Saw this a couple of days ago, have read his son's post since. He will be missed on many forums, I had a few pm's with hm in the past, noticed he was not posting and now know why. The web makes getting info easy but as in this case it is not always good.

Wow that is really said news. I was looking forward to having a look at Alan's Car and having a beer with him, once I'd made it out here.
