Allrighty then.

Today finally we could do the compressiontest, and the compression of this fabulous engine is: 0-0-0-6 bar

Not too hopefull as you can see.

I took the head of the engine and found 14 bent valves, 2 valves seemed allright, but all in all this one's been rubbished.

Possibly I can purchase a much better cilinderhead from a Dutch forum member, and otherwise I'll have to replace the valves.
Anyway, I'm halfway now, so my guess is that before the end of the month this valver will be running happily ever after.... well untill the next thing does come up that is

Here are some pics:

Thanks m8!

wether I'll be able to fix it soon depends if I'm going to be able to get a good cilinder head.
On the other hand, if not and if I order new valves, the next day I'll receive them, and the loca Citroen dealer is friendly enough to lend me their device which holds the valvesprings (obviously I can't recall the english word for that ) so I can replace the valves.

But my guess is that this valver will run as should before the end of the month.

Yeah good point! those aren't too expensive either.
What about the hydraulic plungers? I reccon I have enough of them (32 at the moment) what do you suggest? check the best, clean and place them? or are they worn out easily? both cilinderheads I've got loose right now have done about 250K (KM's) and both of them got smashed.

Thanks! And some good news, today I found a good cilinderhead on internet, without cams but a with very nice price just 100 euro's so I'm just gonna place the cams from the old head on the new one and put it al together. Hopefully this valver will start its 2nd life somewhere next week!

True true

If needed I'm gonna do them for certain!
But the story of this bloke is that he was an advanced hobbyist, but got into some new hobby's (house, wife, kids)
So no more money or time for the pug's!
Apparently he had this tuned 309 with adjustable cams, and just to be sure he held this head on stock if for any reason he had to exchange it. According to him it should be good as new.

Also he has a brand new stock cilinderhead, that has never been used for sale. Couldn't do anything with it though, no valves, springs, cams, etc. installed. But my guess is he's pretty serious about his hobby's when you've got something like that laying around.

But tomorrow I'll see what we'll get.

The headgasket, as well as inletmanifoldgasket en stretchbolts are ordered and waiting for us to be picked up and hopefully next week we'll put the puzzle back together.

Glad though that I've got a valver myself, if I cant recall where one of the 200 plugs or hoses should be I can allways dive under my own bonnet :D

I've found a cylinder head among my spare parts. So if the other ones crappy you could have mine. From an engine that ran about 80.000kms only. And for less money ;)

Thanks m8!
Really appreciate the offer! I'll keep it in mind!
Where exactly do you live in Germany? I live just on the border (Roermond).

@Timmo, I know I know  but indeed I'll be very happy when she's alive again, good thing I was bright enough this time to mark most of the cables and hoses and put the screws in labelled cups. So far so good, but its A LOT to fix

Ah in the Ruhr area,
I've been a lot in Dortmund when I had a Hungarian girlfriend.
Allways flew from Dortmund to Budapest.
That's not too far from Roermond, besides allmost all the autobahn between Roermond and Dortmund is limitless, giving me an excelent chance to drive like a maniak
If the cilinderhead that we're going to see tomorrow is okay, than still I think we should meet, my mate to whom this valver belongs will be eager to test his BX, and I'm very anctious to compare my (332.000KM LPG 158PS) PH2 16V to his (220.000KM RON98 160PS) PH1 16V
My guess is that his 16V will be throwing asphalt through my windshield... But hopefully the shorter gears from my 6-speeder make up for it a bit

Runs like a charm :D
But quite the work though, much more than I expected it to be.
But after we've finished she started up really good! Well she smoked like a maniac from the exhaustmanifold, but after all the oil was burned there was no more smoke to discover :D
Very tired and very happy!

I've got some pics, but I'll post them later! first some food and mostly B-E-E-R

thank you, come again
