Alloy Wheel Fitment
Alloy Wheel Fitment
Here is some usefull information about the alloy wheel fitment on the BX 16v.
Standard Fitment - Speedline 6J x 14 (195/60 VR14)
P.C.D - 4 x 108
Offset (E.T.) - 15
Centre Bore - 65
General Info -
PCD stands for 'pitch circle diametre' and is the diametre of a circle drawn through the centre of your wheel's bolt holes. P.C.D. is measured in millimeters and also indicates the number of studs or bolts the wheel will have.
Offset is often referred to as E.T. which stands for EinpressTieffe in German.
The 'centerbore' of an alloy wheel is the size of the hole at the back of the wheel which the 'hub' fits into. To help the wheels to seat properly this hole needs to be an exact match to the size of the hub.
Most modern wheels are what's called 'hub-centric' - this means that the hub which protrudes from your car [and mates with the equivalent sized hole at the back of your wheel] is 'load bearing'. All the studs or bolts do therefore is hold the wheel onto the hub

it is also worth noting that to reduce the offset of the rim say an et45 fitting a spacer of 20mm will reduce the offset to an et25,
most Citroen / peugeot 4 stud wheels are the same pcd with offsets varying from et12-25
also worth noting that ford rims are also 4x108 pcd and typically et35 and will fit with the use of 15 - 20mm spacers! (central bore of the ford wheel is smaller but with the use of the spacer this is not an issue, also you can get ford to citroen/peugeot spacers which have a smaller spigot ring on the outer edge to center the wheel!)

Facts on fitting aftermarket alloys and tyres, from personnel experience:
17" alloys do fit under 16v arches. Ford wheels with ET35 reduced down with a 20mm spacer to ET15 will fit, as Timmo's comments.
205/40/17 tyres can be used on the rears, 215/40/17 will fit on the fronts.
Gutmann 7" wide wheels fit. 205/50/15 tyres required.

Yes it should and now in fact doesMike E (uk) wrote:"Standard Fitment - Speedline 6J x 14 (185/60 R14) "
shouldn't that be 195/60 VR14 ?
Mike
Thanks Mike the size was a typo but I did miss out the V rating.
Cheers

I bought a set, but the mi16 wheels have 29mm offset, different from the original BX wheels with 15mm, so i'm going to have to use some 15mm wheel spacers to correct the offset.djoptix wrote:I used to have a set but never fitted them to the BX. However, I've seen photos of them on 16vs so they will definitely fit. I think with 205s they will fit with an arch trim at the rear, with 195s they will fit with no modification. Provided your rear arm bearings are in better shape than mine
Here's how they look in BX:

Hi ,
As per your PM question:
Yes, that size wheel will fit under 16V arches.
You will need 205 wide tyres.
A Ford wheel with ET35 will be ok with a 20mm spacer.
On the fronts, you may have to cable tie the handbrake cable out of the way.
On the rears, the metal inner lip of the arch may need grinding back so that it's flush with the plastic outer and watch for clearance on the trailing arm bolt head.
