Rocker Gasket

Post by cossie »

Hi all.
I got an oil leak from the rocker gasket, well I thought.
Got the cover off right now and I found all plug holes full of oil.
When I had the head off,I couldnt have had the seals for the plug holes,as I havent got them, and didnt fit them,at that time.
Now I have 4 seals in black that look to me that they go over the inside of the holes in the cover.Am I right?
I can see the seals in the top of the head, look a bit crappy.
Any help?

There are 4 seals for plug holes and 3 IIRC for those bolts in between plug holes.

Also, while u are at it, change main seal as well (it's a bit expensive).

Hi mandic
I have found the 3 seals in an old kit, from when we done the head gasket. But there wasnt the 4 seals in the kit,or I cant find them.Hope to get them today or tomorrow.
Is there a sequence on how to tighten the cover down?

Cheers

As a general rule of thumb start in the middle and work you way outwards.

The greyish Haynes will probably tell you and there are some cylinder head pdfs on the mainsite.

The main gasket used to be available from GSF and was labelled as xantia 1.8 2.0, the rest usually reseal ok with some silicone, just be very carefull with the bolts, they are a machined item not rolled so are actually quite weak and therefore break off......... and then theyre hard to replace as well as costing silly money.....considering how many there are
