I thought the BX4TC had a 4 pot?
Going by Wiki its a 4pot, i guess i might have just assumed it was a v6 because a) Americans don't have 4cylinder cars b)the engine is a half mile wide. Urgh, that car just gets worse and worse. I'm really surprised they put a 4cylinder US engine in as surely there must have been better european engines to throw in, or have a good go at sticking a turbo on the D6C?
I guess the 2.2L four pot they used is possibly the same as they used in some of the dodge chargers and Omni's, Citroen did a better job of turbo'ing them though, all the yanks managed was 170bhp.
A turbo'd D6C would have nice, guess the 4TC was around a little to early for that!

I remember seeing a BX4TC at the DS 50th at St Quentin,
engine in N-S direction, from the valve cover it looked
like an engine from the Douvrin 2.2 which was used in the 505 GTi
and CX22 but I may be wrong as it was a glance only as there was a crowd around the car.

IIRC and my memory is not best... It's a derivative of the Pug 505.

Compare to the peugeot 505 turbo engine;

This USA model is equipped with the famous N9TE engine (2.2L Turbo Injection), 160 H.P.
It never exist in Europe, it's a unique model for USA only.

Just about everything you could ever possibly want to know about this engine appears to be here;

It may be some other eng. then as the Douvrin 2.2 has the spark plugs and intake manifold on the same side while the pic shows the spark plugs and exhaust on the same side.

I can't find the website that I got my info from, but a quick bit of research found that it is the N9TE engine, here's a BX4TC under bonnet shot.

Compare that to the 505 turbo pic above

Same, so what is the N9TE based on, it has timing chains...
How come the 4TC has no strut tops and also has Diravi...

I assume it has diravi due to the heavy forward weight and rear drive?

The strut tops are a question i have often asked, most if not all Citroen HP racers dont have them, some even have remote spheres.

So the strut must be fixed directly to the wheelhousing like
most coil over suspension shocks with just a bearing fitted.

Was on vacation, so sorry for late answers.

Firstly, strut tops are like this cos it was using CX upper suspension arms, which have struts mounted vertically into wishbone.

Secondly, wikipedia is wrong, there were 1046 405 T16 build.

Darja, if You need any info regarding T16 engine or transplant, feel free to contact me. There are a lot of things needed to be done if You want to put the engine into 2WD car retaining original ECU or running different turbo, as it is very complex.

What are Your plans anyway? Engine geometry? Turbo choice, if any? etc

Cheers

Regarding 4TC engine, it was the same 2155cc 4 pot unit as fitted to the 505 Turbo (which was originally designed by Simca in the late 1960s).

hi,
I'm little busy right now.. Don't have any free time for BX of posting on forum :(
2WD without self locking drive is not usable... My dear friend has N/A 16v on (I think more than 210 HP, he smoked down Honda Integra R type... he's now the fastes in 2000ccm sprint at 400m ) and self lock on front wheels is necessary... original 4x4 from bx can not handle this strenght I think.
Original Ecu? No way... MS Ecu... :-) Original Ecu is stupid... It's like teach stupid dinosaur how to shake a paw... for first experiment, there will be original ecu, after first run it will go away...
Turbo... that's question.. I think about some sh*t cheap turbo and after all tuning the engine change for some better...

I'll send you a message.. when I will have more time for it... this week is full of crap.. (sorry)...

PSA gearboxes don't seem to handle high horsepower well,
a fren who had his 306 converted to GTi-6 tried to smoke a
Porsche Cayenne had his gbox shatter on acc....and that only 167 bhp.
Even my valver has a 2nd gear synchro problem,
probably due to frequent fast acc...
