Xantia 2.1 TD Hydraulic Pump

When the MOT was done 3 months ago the accumulator sphere was replaced, I didn't hear the clicking, it's a diesel ! Now on idle the stop / hydraulic light flickers, I'm told it's the HP pump probably caused by the flat sphere. They are not cheap and with the garage charges it'll be expensive. Can anyone comment on how hard or easy this is as a DIY job ?

Changing it yourself, easy.
Rebuilding it yourself, erm, dont even bother..

I have a good mate who is breaking a 2.1TD Xantia right now as it goes, I honestly don't know if the pump is already spoken for, but I can enquire if it's available for beer tokens if you like?

Hi Doc, I'd appreciate it if you could ask the question, I wasn't thinking about repairing it, that sounds like and engineering shop task, just wondered if swapping it was a DIY job

Shouldn it be the same as the 1.9TD.
Petrol and diesel pumps differ in pulley size and angle of fit
but dunno about 2.1TD as we don't have this version here
but I presume it's the same as 1.9TD

/\ good point.. I have no idea TBH.
I try and avoid Xantia's wherever possible..

Anyhow, question asked, I await a reply!
I'll let you know when I get one, which should be tomorrow hopefully.

Change the main sphere first, then check the hyd. tank filter
if dirty ,clean it,or change it, from there check further until you are finally convinced it's the pump. very rarely does the pump give way.
