BX 16V/GTI Standard gearknob

Having sourced a mint condition uncracked standard gearknob for the 16v i have found out that it doesnt fit
. The gearknob wont screw onto my gearstick because the hole in the gearknobs to wide. Are there 2 different types of gearknob, 1) for the early lift up and forward reverse and 2,) one for the later to the right and back reverse.

No they are the same, the BE3 (bottom right reverse) knob has a small rubber insert in it to stop the lever being pulled up. You probably need to remove or add the insert (which is a rubber tube about an inch long)

nah, the GT knob looks like a BX one, only it doesn't fit a BX..

The mk2 did, the mk1 had identical knobs to the BX....only with a bigger hole.

i thought it may be a cx one ah well. Going to keep the gearknob and see if i can get an adaptor made up to make it fit the bx.

CX has a pretty big hole ,AX I think has a red line across.

AX GT has a red stripe (GT500 had a black one)
All other mk1 AX's use the normal BX knob but with a bigger hole tapped into it. Could be the same as a CX.

Robin - I probably have a P2 gearknob licking about so if you still need one I will brave the stores in the new year and post it down to you.
