Hi Guys,

Looking for a DFW lump, this is the motor from the later 'cat' equipped valvers. It will be getting a rebuild so condition isn't important and i'm equally happy getting a basic tall engine (i.e. no ancilliaries required).

I know they're not easy to find so bear this in mind for the future as i'm unlikely to find one soon.

Cheers!

Knowing Jay, it will be a supercharger no doubt!

It is indeed a large supercharger ordered yesterday and due for delivery mid-March.

In talks with someone for the engine which will be going off to have a rebuild.

Aha, seems to be the popular thing to do now!

I looked at it a couple of years ago but with no known test-subjects around at the time it would have been an expensive gamble.

However, now it's been done successfully by a couple of people with the smaller chargers on the D6C i'm going ahead on a somewhat larger scale :D

It's only women that say size doesn't matter

Not sure how you'll get the power to the ground?

Even with a LSD and huge front tyres it'll be a struggle until you get up into 4th and 5th!

The place that supplied a replacement head for the phase 1 had a selection of brand new low comp 16V engines, if it's any interest? They bought a job lot - believe they fitted a different cam to get performance back to what it would be for a high compression motor.

I'd need to dig about for the name, but they're based in Haywards Heath IIRC and are in the links section somewhere

Cheers Adrian, i've emailed them too about their stock.

Yes Jez, you're right about traction issues, but there's an LSD in the bag and should be able to squeeze 215 semi slicks at each corner. Traction should then only be an issue if being stupid but if it's really that bad i'll just have to play with lowering the boost, it's only a case of changing a pulley anyway.

Technically, with the charger i've ordered there's a theoretical 350bhp (ish) available and it would still take the nitrous with the progressive controller i already have. But, to make that reliably available i'd need £1500 worth of internals done. It's all bought and paid for now anyway so no going back!

Just working on management and a few other bits now, looking at KMS, Emerald and Megasquirt. The good thing about the KMS is you pretty much hook it up and crank the engine over and it will work out all the basics itself & fire up and has a brilliant GUI, but it's bloody expensive!

Pretty sure traction will be a pain, but it will be a fun PITA

Semi slick will help for sure, got Yoko's on mine and they are great!

Good luck with it, maybe it will be finished next time I make it back to the UK!

Jay,

What are exact plans for the engine?
