Gear selector backslash

I started to fix my valver gear selector mechanism (BE1). It is a little bit loose in sideways, stick doesn't centralize itself between 3rd and 4th properly as my other BX (non valver Gti with BE3). Otherwise gears works ok. I dismantled selector rods totally and was suprised when I found a needle bearing. My diagnose is that this bearing is the cause of the backlash. I suppose that the only way to fix this is to replace bearing with the bush (brass or nylon).

Here is the picture of the bearing Image and the lever Image

As you can see lever is worn so I suppose that renewing the bearing does not fix the problem. Any suggestions of the best way to fix this.

Another question is a strange noise coming at low speed (~30 km/h). It sounds like table saw cutting a board. It is not continuous and not loud, I hear it occasionally when I drive slowly with the window open. I suspect that it comes from the gearbox. Any ideas or experience?

Fixed. My mate made a new bush from brass. Now stick is firm and center as it should be. Here a picture of the new bush.
