Still alive!

Me, not the car! Not strictly true as the 16v still goes, but a Friend ran it out of water so not keen to do anything with it, Especially as the diesel saloon just passed another mot for 23 quid on strut returns....
More importantly I've just bought another bx, a 1988 preview 1.4 no sun roof, abs, elec windows, rear wiper, pas in fact non of th bits which add weight and stop working! Plan to mint up the shell and 16v it with the remains of the cat b one so should be fair bit quicker than standard just by weighing less.

Is that the preview that was on eBay?

Sounds like it could be the ultimate valver really, no body kit weight either. Could be interesting to get a true Ph2 valver and this project on a weigh bridge to see what the difference is!

It is that one, looks better in the photo than real life! allthough it is very straight there is some odd corrosion around the rear arches but i'll be putting the 16v ones on anyway to get the clearance - its not as though I don't have enough bits.....
The idea of less crap to go wrong really appeals, and the added acceleration can only help. will be fitting the 16v kit as the weight is minimal and i like the idea of less front end lift at speed.

Each to their own, but turning a Preview into a Valver? Really? Pah

I think its a good idea. None of the hassles of the more complicated valver, but with 'the look' that 99% of people wouldn't know the difference anyway!

I must admit I would seriously consider this if I had a good doner and the space.

Ollie, I don't know if you've seen this, but this guy did pretty much what you're thinking of doing:

There is a good write up of that car on the BxClub forum.

I would have kept it a real sleeper and not fitted the bodykit.

I'm quite liking the idea of a simple BX14 with the looks of a 16v. I must admit all the head gasket nightmare stories etc. etc. and all the extra things to go wrong do scare me a bit. Coming from a classic VW Beetle where less is more, I think its for the best with older cars.
