Hi all.
Am off to look at a ZX 16v on Tuesday night, as a possible engine donor for my friends Valve.
What are the engine codes and details to look out for, these were fitted with the 155bhp 2L engine
Thanks,
Mike P.

ZX 2.0i 16v XU10J4/L/Z (RFY) 1992 - 1997 Motronic MP3.2 152 @ 6500
ZX 2.0i 16v XU10J4D (RFT) 1994 - 1996 Motronic MP3.2 150 @ 6500
ZX 2.0i 16v XU10J4RS (RFS) 1996 - 1998 Magnetti Marelli 1AP10 167 @ 6500
I don't think the ZX ever had the XU9J4

RFS was only fitted to the ZX Dakar which AFAIK was never sold over here. Uber quick car too, it was much lighter than the Xsara it had the engine from.
In complete honesty, I'd hold out for the real deal. The ZX 16v's main let down was its engine IMO. It was shite
(excluding the dakar)

Go for the Xsara VTS lump - much more refined, reliable and powerful than the ZX version, easier to find, and reasonably priced.

Its not easier to find. Don't forget the ZX16v lump is also used in the ph2 Mi16, the Xantia VSX and the 306 S16.

XU9J4 - "there is no substitute"
Bonus point for naming the fild taht quote comes from
but it must be the film that said "Porsche there is no substitute"
Cheers
