Coolant temp sensor

Post by csg100 »

Does anyone have a spare coolant temp sensor that's used for the dashboard gauge?

Not a very good photo, but it's the one with the brown wire:

Ordered one off Citroen, and paid for it, 3 (or maybe 4) months ago and still they havent got it. I'm started to get annoyed with not having a working gauge now!

Cheers

hi there,
my one failed a while ago but i brought it back to life with a replacement new connector (brown 1) and i sanded down the sensor part to clean it up. i strongly reccomend doing this before changing the sensor. its often just corroded connections.

If you ordered it from Freeborn, try Wyatt. They're 100times better at getting stuff in!

When I had the Activa, Freeborn ordered a part and never got it. Said there were supply problems.

Wyatts ordered it from the same place and got it next day

Maybe this is something, my bx did'nt have gauges for coolant and oiltemp. so i build in the gauges from a GTI and i needed sensors for coolant and oil.

the make i used is FACET and the number of the sensor is 7.3007. It fits and works properly. Is available in every car shop in Holland and maybe in the UK too?

It cost me 12 euro's so that should be 8 or 9 pounds?

try finding a TD Xantia, seems to work fine and is the same size fitment albeit a different connector which i just shove the BX connector onto and it works! If you find a 1.9TD with aircon then there are two of them fitted, Bonus!

tim: that'll be for the 'your engine's cooked' red light at the end of the gauge.

well it's one or the other, isn't it? since csg100 suggested that he was after the gauge sensor, which he said was the brown wire at the bottom, then i logically assumed that the other one was for the light switch....
