buggering brake lights and seriously worrying engine noises.

hi peeps,
i have sorted my brake lights problem finally afer 1.5 yrs. well i did it simply by adding a wire between brake switch live wire and the circuit board on the left rear lights to light up the brake lights! well taken me a long time but i have been really lazy about getting it sorted because i never use the car. but anyhow the high idle is still here,?? ideas?
