i'm jealous of all you fellas running:
a) quality tyres
b) the same ones on each wheel (or at least 2 out of 4)
Since I've had the valver (2002) it's been budget/2nd hand all the way. looks like i'm missing out on some of the car's handling potential. but then since i've never known any difference i've got nothing to compare it to! and i'm not complaining about the way it handles.
however ONE day i will treat the old girl to a fancy set.

The sporty Miches are superb
The volcanes used to run pilotes and the vts never has anything other thanb the current exaltos but they do keep changing the tread patterns.
My BX had a nearly new pair of "powergrip" on the rfront when I bought it nad power was certainly here but sadly grip was not they were shocking
Cheers

Funny what everyones saying about the Michelin Pilot Exalto's in the wet - when I swapped the part-worn Toyo Proxies for new Exaltos on the front, their first kiss of tarmac was home from the Costco car park in the driving rain. Within about 10 minutes I was sure they were a quantum leap up from the Toto's.
Havent actually tried anything else yet! The Hornet's done under 2000 miles in 3 years and I keep getting the extra-cheap-multibuy-special-offers from Costco before I wear the tyres out, so I've got a pair of them sitting in my garage with the labels still on!

in the wet mine are shocking! doesnt take much effort at all to spin em up!
i had vikings int he past on my 309 and they were a good allrounder as were the Vredesteins! althoguh they wore really well utnill one day when they seemed to shed all tread loL! (not litrally but they suddenly went very low lol!) but also havd avon zv1's and was that impressed i got another set so had them allround! they were good! i liked them a lot! (at the time i was driving the same stretch of road everyday to work and back in the day and night (pub shifts!!) and the avons impressed me the most overall! and it did push the 309 Very hard! ) my bets mate has brgestone potenza somehting or rather on his gti-6 and is forever raving about them! althoguh they are quite a sticky tire so wont last too long!

I had a set of Yokohama A539's on mine for ages, think some of them may have even lasted around 25K
I fairly recently changed the whole lot, as 3 were old, for a set of A520's, and these are a direct replacement for the 539.
As before grip in the wet is lacking, but in the dry it is legendary - IMHO.
17's worked out at about £75 a corner fitted, I imagine 15's can't be much less than that, but I thought that was stonking value, in the olden days it was £120 per corner

P6000's All round on my white one, good grip & i've always got HUGE mileage from them on any car (even with my driving)Mike P wrote:I've always rated the Pirelli P6000s.
But tyre opinion is always horses for courses, everybody rates things differently.

Budget Champiro's on the Grey one as it gets driven with a lot more respect to itself, the environment and stupid small creatures that run out in front of me all the time...
Now listen here you mullet...

Rob, still has it! but actively looking!! winter is the best time to buy a ragtop! he loves the 6 but needs something without a roof! he has withdrawl symptoms!!
dan, i got my avons dfor £45 a tyre on my 309 (15") in 2001, i think they are around 40-50 mark generally nowadays for a good one!!!
you did get a very good price on the yoko's matey! but fortunately due to the popularity of 17's now prices are on the down! alot of cars come with 17's as std! optional 18's etc!
are the p6000 the drago's?? bro had them on the 205 when he had it! had a massive groove down the middle! very good tyres!
