The oil pressue light works ok.

Can someone confirm it should have 2 wires coming from it please? Green and a brown.

Anyone know a way to fit one without taking the engine half to bits as removing the inlet manifold looks a pain in the arse. I tried to take the rad out before but the car bit me! plus mines a a/c car so theres alot more piperwork in the way, a alternator out job isnt so bad as I was thinking of replacing it as its abit dicky.

i'm afraid i don't know of any way of getting them out without taking off either the rad or the manifold.

both of those oil pressure sensors (one for the gauge, t'other for the light) only have one wire coming from them.

all in the haynes wiring diagram, if you've got one?

hi tim,
does your oil temp gauge work? if not and the green wire is the extra 1 then the green wire could be for the oil temp sensor, as thats the only green wire i know about that goes down the back of the engine that way.

hi tim,
i recently looked at mine and from memory the brown wire should be on the pressure sensor. on the bx´s green wires are usually info sending wires to dash etc or for powering other bits. prob is most of em are green  . if i was you i would trace it back to its source then tell us where it went then we can look on our cars and tell you where it should go. :D but you really need to take the step to jam your hands in there and get a few scrapes and cuts to tell us. :D by the way have you taken the brown wire off yet and cleaned the connector. if you are having trouble getting in there all i can suggest is taking the oil filler pipe off ´´the one between the inlet mani pipes´´ then you should get your hand down in there. well i can :D

cheers rossco

Tim,

Pretty certain that green wire is not an earth. DC don't usually work that way and sensors are usually strictly a one wire operation as most things earth back through the body of whatever they're connected to.
It's 10 pm here at present and for once p!$$!ng down, but I'll take a peak in the morning, but I suspect one wire is off the oil light sensor and the other off another sensor possibly oil temp or oil level down there.

Cheers alan, the oil pressure light on the gauge does work as does the oil temp gauge. The oil pressure gauge and oil level indiator on start up doesnt. Thanks

Only any use if you're currently online, but this is what the weather's like at present. (Instead of hot, humid and dry)
I'm directly inland and on the oceanfront from Fraser Island.

Its nice and sunny round here to today but last night it was so windy i had to go out at 3.00 am in the morning and put the valver in the garage as the wind was ripping the slates off the porch and directing them at my valver
