Oil filter

Post by djoptix »

Is the oil filter on the 16v the same as any other BX? (barring BX14, apparently)
Red phase 1, 84k
Silver phase 1, 67k

Jezzie is correct, all the XU's are the same.

The XY and TU are different.

just dont try and be clever and get a HDi or V6 one, they have different filtering and seriously throttle the oil flow through the engine! There seems to be a notable difference between brands with diesel filters, and there is no way to test, but i now stick religiously to the Perflux branded ones!

Clever? Don't do clever...

Stupid maybe!
I've given up caring which brand of most things i use.

The way i see it, my white one was run on the cheapest 20/50 when i first got it, almost daily visits the limiter (frequently), has been run several times on short journeys with no coolant, it's been subjected to cornering G's that had it not been overfilled with oil would have left the oil pump gasping for it's life, AND to top all that off it's had just 2 bolts holding the engine to the gearbox fror the past 4 months...

Unreliable & easily broken, i think not!

Haha it's always the way though, I bet if you were spending a fortune trying to look after it and driving it gently everywhere the cambelt would snap or something!!
