306GTI-6 gearbox in my 16V

just an update on this mod dudes.
This is a problem ive come accross doing the swap.They isnt any provision on the 306 gearbox for attaching the accumulator sphere or the brackets which support the bellhousing lower cover and pipe brakets.Anyway after much thinking and weilding of my grindng and the death of a 5 speed and a bit of tig welding, this is what i came up with..........its not pretty but once painted up it will be sharp forgotten about.The box on the left is the pug one [img][img]http://i1233.photobucket.com/albums/ff3 ... y/0012.jpg[/img][/img] [img][img]http://i1233.photobucket.com/albums/ff3 ... y/0032.jpg[/img][/img] [img][img]http://i1233.photobucket.com/albums/ff3 ... y/0062.jpg[/img][/img]

well it did cross my mind to do both.i consulted my local gearbox specialist about swapping the bellhousings and the man didnt seem keen,says it was a lot of work....Im not a gearbox man???
I remember you talking about moving the accumulator but didnt fancy it to be honest.In my expeirence you stick to the factory option until you absoultly have no other option.I also have the added problem of boost pipes,intercoolers etc to work round and space is limited I didnt fancy fiddling on with microbore pipework,I just dont have the time.

Feeting the Xantia pump to get rid of the FDV seems a very interesting option, but how will the xantia pump be installed over the gearbox?surjit25 wrote:the holes for the FDV are there , but all it takes is some cutting weld a bracket to hold the press. reg.
But do like me ,get a xantia pump and pinion and fit it , u can do without the FDV..

91' Citroën BX GTi 16v
If you are using the XU9J4 then have to modify a pulley onto the xantia pump and create a new bracket on the gearbox to fit the pump.and modify pipings.
If you are using 8V engine, get the pump bracket from ZX or Xantia 1.6/1.8 and it will be direct bolt on but have to convert complete belt system to serpentine one.
I hv used XU10 8V on BX next I will try XU10JR4 (Xantia2) on and see the power diff. But this is done on a GTi 8V not 16V
My 16V is currently using a non power steering rack from a BX16RS
and it is not too bad, a tad bit heavy though like a GS. haven't had the time to modify a bracket and pulley on top of the gearbox and refit the PAS, I hv done away with the FDV on the 16V. The hyd pump clicks much much less now..
I think quite a no. of people in UK have done this mod.

Hi there. I haven't read the whole thread, so please feel free to flame me if this has already been mentioned
Is your car LHD or RHD? because you are going to basically lose all of your right hand turning lock. I mean it will be ridiculously bad.
My brothers GTi 6 has trouble making it round small roundabouts and we have only found about 2 roads (read air-strips) that he can actually u-turn on (and a GTi6 is shorter than a BX).
Not such a big deal in LHD cars that drive on the R/H side of the road. But here in NZ it can be pretty annoying at times.

whats wrong with some spacers to push the tyres/rims away from the end of the cog box? And maybe (more realistically ) some 17" rims?
