Either in the scuttle between the wiper blades, OR some cars have them behind the glass behind the rear view mirror. Guesses but might give some clue!

Well here is some more info - the chap is a retired AA man and the temp thingy was reading fine but his bottom crank pulley fell apart and he let a garage fit a new one and ever since then the temp readings have been much igher than they should be.
So thoughts are that it was disturned and is now picking up some engine heat but he just can't find out where the sensor is located and health isuues prevent him crawling around tracing wires.

'Most' external temp sensers are located in a wing mirror!?! engine bay area sounds odd as it would have a lot of heat fromt here to calculate of the true temp rather than the apparent temp?????

I think you're wright Timmo!

I know somebody who build an outside temp. meter in his bx and he used stuff he took out of an XM! He said the meter came out the xm's right mirror.

Definiteky not in the mirror area guys.
A chap who runs xantias for his taxi fleet reckons on the aerial but I am dubious and I don't mean in the engine bay but more likely between the inner nad outer wing area.

If I'd had to guess from other xantia nonsense I'd place money on the drivers side inner wing behind the wheel arch liner within the front bumper area, as this is about as cold as the car will get if in direct sun, and the air in there doesn't get too much turbulance. and that fits nicely with where the guys where working!! its probally just come "unclipped" from the wing and getting a little hoter from the water pipes.
