Well as spring seems to have arrived I thought I would bring the valver out and do the little jobs I have been putting off all winter, so I know have working remote locking, better drivers motor and working washwipe
Great! SO i took it for a spin to celebrate and the back box mounting came off and shook the clamp loose so the tail pipe dragged on the floor, right in the middle of town
I tied it up with a cloth and limped home, bloody cars!

Its all fixed now, prob is that the metal rod that the backbox mounting fits onto fell off years ago and its help up by tiewraps and a metal strap!

...yup, the same problem with my old red phase 1, it's generally welded on quite poorly....

Mine fell off years ago.
I bolted a 6" length of angle iron pointing down, and a length of studding horizontally through this to hang the exhaust rubber support from.
Added 2 large penny washers to spread the load on the thin bodywork,
and it is good still 6 years later.

Is it the mounting on the backbox thats come off, or the one on the car?

You wanna check that corner for rust then mate, thats if you've never had it welded there. They usually rot behind the weld causing it to drop off.

It was getting a bit frilly but ive patched it up and thoroughly undersealed it, it will need welding at sometime in the future but as I dont let it get wet it should lats.

Or as long as you haven't sealed the rust in underneath the underseal, as it'll rot quicker than you can say "BX milage car and aerial"

Unlucky Tim, three steps forward, one step back
The day I clamped the XKR tailpipe to the Green 16v's back box, it came off on the way home and bounced down the road
Straight to work to get the welder out, should have done that in the first place.
